Give it a go if you're interested, if you don't like it you can always stop playing

The thing about video games is you get to decide whether you enjoy it or not. The remastered version is supposedly better optimized, but allows you to use the flashlight and gun at the same time. So, is it a good game? Is it at least a decent game? If so, which version is the best? I've heard the original is terribly optimized for modern computers, though I'm not too worried about it. Since then my tastes in games have changed, and I think giving it another shot on PC will be worthwhile. What's the story here? My only experience with the game was playing it for about 30 minutes on Xbox and hating it, but that was 10 years ago. Some people say it's a shallow experience, some say it's overall a solid game. Basically everyone says the game is too dark, which I absolutely agree with. I've heard people say the inability to use the flashlight and the gun at the same time ruins the game, and others say it's an interesting mechanic. I actually prefer muddy textures, smaller levels and bad framerate to the new flashlight mechanic of the BFG edition.I'm interested in trying out Doom 3 but there seems to be a huge divide regarding whether or not it's a good game. The only version I enjoy playing is the OG XBox port. P.s.: I own the original PC release, but it's a hassle to get to work on my modern system, and it has no controller support. Because a handful of people complained that they wanted to swipe their sword indefinitely. It's like if Dark Souls was rereleased, but they removed the stamina bar. And why is there no toggle for this in the options? It boggles my mind. It boggles my mind that the designers were ok with this. Now it is simplified to a trivial boring shooter.

The tradeoff between being able to see enemies or shoot them made the game so tense.

Other than that it looks stupid with the light cone coming in from the left, it completely changes the gameplay for the worse. I am SO disappointed that they patched the stupid Duct Tape Mod into the game, so you can have a flashlight out at all times.
